UPDATE - River Nith Friars Carse May 2025
There has been very little fishing activity to report on the beat with like so many other rivers its has been running very low.
A few anglers that have been out and reported catches have had some fine Brown Trout best going just shy of 3lb.
Local angler at the beat Alan Gray was out at the start of the recent lift and was rewarded with the beats first reported salmon of the season and lovely 18lb fish – well done Alan, let’s hope there will be many more to come this season.
Friars beat gives you some nice varied water to fish from slow deep runs to some nice streamy water. Fly, spin or worm is allowed on the beat and if you need any information of where to fish then just give me a call, I’m happy to help out fellow anglers.
The Hotel has informed me that all species are catch and release so please be careful when handling & returning fish, give them time to recover.
Please remember when fishing the beat to let the Hotel know of your catch return even if you’ve not been successful, it helps them in knowing how the beat is fishing.
Fly Fishing Courses at the beat that have spaces left are: September 8th to 10th & November 10th to the 12th contact me for further information and to book your place.
Tight lines.
