Ballathie letting conditions - 2025
In the event of the tenant being unwilling or unable to fish the tenant is still liable for the full rent due and Atholl Sporting reserves the right to recover all monies due, plus any further expenses incurred, from the original tenant. The Proprietors shall not be bound to refund any rents paid in the event of cancellation for whatever reason.
The Proprietors require tenants to adhere to the then current recommendations of the Tay District Salmon Fisheries Board “TDSFB”, any variation of which from the point of let to date of fishing shall be deemed to be binding on tenants and no refund of monies paid will be considered as a result of the TDSFB changing its recommendations.
A tenant may not sub-let the beat, if a tenant so sub-lets, all fishing will be forfeit and cancelled without further discussion or refund.
Rods may not be shared on any one day without prior permission of Atholl Sporting.
Atholl Sporting and Proprietors let the rights of fishing only, and do not accept responsibility for the natural hazard and adverse climatic conditions out with their control affecting the catching of salmon. Please note that in line with general practice, no refunds will be given for fishing spoilt by inclement weather, poor water conditions or in any other circumstances which could not reasonably have been foreseen or predicted or any circumstances that are out with the Proprietor and Atholl Sporting’s control.
The Proprietors accept no responsibility for loss or damage to tenants or his party's property from whatever cause arising nor for any injury to the tenant or any member of the fishing party. In the interests of safety, no alcohol should be offered or given to the ghillies during the fishing period.
The fishery has provided lifejackets or buoyancy aids of a design that will not impair your ability to fish in comfort. It is strongly advised you to wear one when using a boat or when wading in strong or deep water. If you don't, you are doing so at your own risk. If you are not happy with the equipment provided, or any other safety issue, please ring us immediately, so that the situation can be rectified.
Clients and guests are advised to wear and use their own personal protective equipment where appropriate. This should include chest waders, eye protection, wading stick and appropriate clothing.
You need to bring your own fishing equipment (rods, reels, lines, flies etc).
The lead named tenant is responsible for the fishing party at all times when fishing. Should the lead tenant not be present at any time, a person must be nominated to take charge of the party.
Clients are strongly advised to take out a Public Liability Policy, covering themselves and their guests, for not less than £5,000,000.
The insurance cover in the fishing huts does not extend to the property of tenants. If you wish to leave your belongings it is at your own risk. You are advised to ensure that you have adequate insurance cover for sports and other items when travelling.
The tenant is not permitted to hire or engage any additional guides, ghillies or boats other than those provided by the Proprietor.
The ghillie's decision on all fishing matters is final and binding, including on safety and use of boats.
Should any other dispute arise between the tenant and the ghillie, Atholl Sporting must be informed as soon as possible and certainly before the expiry of the let.
There is a mandatory catch and release policy in place whereby all fish must be returned to and including 31 March. In addition, as a condition of let, the Proprietors require that in addition ALL FISH MUST BE RETURNED UP TO 30 JUNE.
You must report full details of any fish caught to the ghillie promptly.
If you have any problems with the standard of service provided, please tell the ghillie straightaway and if you don't get a satisfactory response, please contact Atholl Sporting immediately on the number above, so we have time to act before you leave. Failure to do so will severely hamper any chances of us obtaining fair redress for you.
You need to be reasonably healthy and mobile to access most fishings. If you are not, you must notify Atholl Sporting before you book, to ensure that you can be looked after safely and properly.
Anglers are reminded that parking of cars should be in designated parking areas and is always at the angler’s own risk.
No angler shall use a gaff or tailer. All landing nets must be knotless.
There is no fishing allowed on Sundays.
