The Soval section of Loch Langabhat incorporates the northerly end where salmon first enter the loch via the Grimersta system. The Soval section takes in the first three miles of the loch and goes up to just short of the narrows where it meets the Aline boundary on the eastern shore.
The Soval boathouse bay and the eastern section of the top end of Loch Langabhat provide the best fishing.
The easiest access is to park at the south end of the village of Airidh a Bhruaich and walk in a northerly direction towards Roineabhal hill with Theastabhal on your left hand side. It takes approximately an hour.
Salmon start running in late June and can provide good sport early in the season, but often the higher rainfall towards the end of the season, from September and up to the 15 October provide excellent fishing.
The wild brown trout fishing is some of the best available on the Island with early May till the end of July being the best period. The trout average around three-quarters of a pound, however, Langabhat does contain good numbers of larger trout.
Soval permits a maximum of ten bank anglers to fish per day. Anglers are reminded that legally, they are ONLY allowed to fish one rod at a time. Fly fishing is encouraged but spinning and bait fishing are allowed.
Anglers are asked to return ALL hen salmon and All sea trout, however, one cock salmon per day under 10lbs in weight may be retained.
Six brown trout may also be retained.
