DESCRIPTION Irvine House Mid Beat (Party 1) Right bank only from the top of the Carrot Bed to the junction with the Tarras Water, a distance of about 283m, and both banks, but mainly fished from the right bank, from the junction of the Tarras Water to Stone End Pool, a distance of about 658m. SHARING OF THE WATER Rods are expected to treat other rods fishing the beat with great consideration and to move down the water taking a minimum of one step cast. When fishing a single bank, rods should not enter the water directly in front of those fishing the opposite bank but enter upstream. Should the person opposite fail to move down then the rod may proceed downstream. Those fishing Tarras Flat are advised that fish often lie close to the side and wading should be restricted to the rivers edge to avoid disturbance. In the event of beats remaining unlet, the Estate reserves the right to let to individual rods by the day. At all times the Estate reserves the right to permit one extra rod to fish any beat for the purpose of catching fish to be supplied to The Duke of Buccleuch.
