1. It is the wish of the River Tay Catchment proprietors to enhance breeding stocks of fish by introducing a voluntary catch and release policy. You are requested, whenever possible, to return caught fish to the river. A video explaining the policy is available from the Estate Office.
2. The fishing may not be sub-let. However, in the event of the rod being unable to fish, he or she may assign the rod to a third party.
3. Please inform the Estate Office by phone of all catch returns, including nil returns, within 48 hours of the end of your fishing. Failure to do so may result in future lets being refused. Please fill in any comments/remarks in the register in the fishing hut.
4. Fly-fishing only with standard fly tackle is permitted. Prawn, shrimp and worm bait is not permitted.
5. Spinning shall cease in the Pol Dornie and Essangael pools when the water level is below the white painted marks on the respective rocks.
6. Multi hook lures should not be used (i.e. if fishing a Rapala two of the three trebles should be removed).
7. During periods of low water when only the main pools can be fished, if an angler approaches a pool which is already being fished from the opposite bank, he should allow a reasonable period to elapse before fishing that pool and at that point the other angler should move on. When conditions are equal on both sides, that period should be about twenty minutes but the period should vary when bank conditions favour one side as opposed to the other (e.g. at the Essangael pool).
8. You should hold an adequate and valid public liability insurance covering yourself and your guests. All persons fishing Atholl Estates' waters do so at their own risk and the Estate takes no responsibility for any damage, accident or personal injury of whatsoever kind or nature. Wading in rivers can be dangerous. The Estate recommends the use of life jackets and wading staffs. Also be aware that rapid changes in water level may occur on this stretch of river. Please act responsibly.
9. Use phone as directed at the Railway level crossing and keep the gate locked at all times. The combination padlock code is available from the estate office with your permit after payment. Please ensure you and your guests follow the correct procedure.
