Almondmouth is one of the most prolific beats on the Tay. It is located right on the high tide limit at Perth and every salmon entering the Tay must pass through it. The River Almond also enters the Tay right in the middle of the beat and this is a very productive little salmon river in its own right. Salmon heading for the Almond sometimes accumulate in astonishing numbers in the summer and autumn providing astonishingly productive fishing.
Balvaird Apartment within Scone Palace perfect for anglers fishing this beat. For more information and availability contact Scone Palace

Conservation Measures
Guests are asked to adopt a catch and release policy and never to kill a fish they do not require. As a minimum guide, the first salmon caught between 15th January and 31st May must be returned and each individual angler may only retain one fish per day thereafter. Anglers should not fish with worms during this period. From 1st June to 15th October all hen fish to be released and the aim should then be to release at least 50% of cock fish weighing over 15lbs. All coloured fish should be released throughout the year. Anglers should not use worms in September or October in any part of the system where highly coloured fish (spring fish or early grilse) are waiting to spawn. Copies of the catch and release code are on display in the fishing huts.
