Fishing permits are sold as 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 day packages and both rods must be booked together. Sometimes an extra rod can be purchased at extra cost.
The outfitter will appoint an experienced guide to meet the fishing party on arrival at the lodge. The guide will assist in getting settled in the rooms, show the water and advise on best pools, supervise a fair rod rotation system and visit you from time to time to see how you are doing. Optionally, a guide can be hired for the entire fishing for a fixed price.
The fishery operates the 'Afternoon to Noon' fishing policy which means the fishing starts in the afternoon at 16:00 of the first day purchased and terminates at 12:00 noon on the day after the last day purchased.
The lodge has 3 bedrooms with fully made up beds (sleeps 6 people), a fully equipped kitchen, wc and shower. Optionally, full service food and drinks can be provided with extra cost.
The first fishing day always starts in the afternoon at 16:00 and fishing must terminate at 12:00 noon on the last fishing day.
On the first day, please arrive between 14:00 and 16:00 at the Lodge.
Fishing hours are maximum 6 hours in the afternoon and 6 hours in the morning depending on the length of daylight (during June & July the midnight sun gives 24 hours of daylight).
Only fly fishing allowed and only with barbless hooks.
All hen salmon must be released and also all cock salmon over 70 cm (27 inches).
Only allowed to keep 3 cock fish under 70 cm (27 inches) per rod per day.
The catch limit on trout fishing is 6 fish per rod per day, but any sea run Char over 55 cm (21 inch) must be released.
The maximum number of rods allowed to fish at any one time are three (3). It is quite common in Iceland for 2 fishermen to share one rod, which means that 4-6 people can share the 2-3 rods.
On the last day, fishing is allowed until 12:00 noon. Please, depart the lodge no later than 13:00.
Rods are sold seperately to fish the lake Heidarvatn. The maximum number of rods allowed to fish lake Heidarvatn at any one time are four (4).
