Overview

Welcome to Dalheim in Laggo

Three kilometres up from the express boat quay in Laggo lies Dalheim farm, located on the southern bank of the Langfjord River, serving as a gateway to the wilderness. The farm was established in the 1930s as a homestead by Egil and Elsa Jensen. After active farming ended around 1970, their eldest son Charles took over and developed the property into a tourist destination, which he managed until his passing in 2023.

Today, the farm is a rural heritage site with distinctive buildings and artistic installations. In 2024, Eva Heika and Trond Rypdal Sveen purchased Dalheim. They live on the farm, maintain the buildings, and welcome both returning and new guests.

Fishing at Dalheim

Dalheim is a base for salmon and sea char fishing in the lower stretches of the Langfjord River. Renting the main house provides exclusive fishing rights on the Dalheim beat — a roughly 500-metre stretch on the southern bank.

The Jensen Pool, Charles Hole, and the lower section of Nedre Hyttedammen are included. The number of rods/anglers on the beat is unlimited — guests decide how many can fish.

Accommodation

Main House
The main house remains largely unchanged since construction, offering a view into early settler life. It can be rented weekly, with Friday as arrival and departure day.

It has 10 beds on the upper floor, summer water supply, a shower and freezer in the basement, and a fully equipped kitchen with fridge, oven, kettle, and all necessary utensils, crockery, glasses, and cutlery. The outdoor toilet is in the barn.

Guests provide their own bedding and food. Heating is by electricity and wood stove. Martinbu storehouse with two beds can be included by arrangement. Cleaning is the tenant’s responsibility or by agreement.

Rolfbu Storehouse
Rolfbu is a small cabin with a loft suitable for 2–3 people. It includes fridge and freezer, electric heating, hot plates, and essential cookware, dishes, and cutlery. Water is collected from the yard, and the outdoor toilet is in the barn. Cleaning is the tenant’s responsibility or by agreement.

When the main house (with fishing rights) is not rented, exclusive fishing rights on the Dalheim beat can be rented separately. The number of rods/anglers is unlimited.

Why you need to fish here

This is a unique opportunity to stay truly off-grid and fish one of the most scenic stretches of the Laggo River, offering exclusive access to Dalheim’s private salmon beat. With classic pools such as Jensenkulpen and Charlesholla, it’s an ideal spot for anglers seeking quality fishing, peaceful surroundings, and an authentic Norwegian wilderness experience. You can buy additional fishing for the rest of the river as well.

Arrival information & directions

Address: Laggo, Laggo, Finnmark, Norway9773, Norway

You can fly to Lakselv, Kirkenes, or Mehamn. Mehamn and Kjøllefjord are also served by the Hurtigruten coastal express. Bus connections from the airports to Skjånes or Nikolasdalen may be possible.

By car, drive to Skjånes or Nervei to take the express boat, which calls at Laggo on signal. The boat must be booked in advance, at least two hours before departure (or the day before if you’re travelling on Wednesday morning).

Download two apps on your mobile phone: Snelandia Mobillett and Snelandia Reise.

As of October 2025, the express boat operates between Skjånes and Laggo three days a week: Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday, with return options each day. From Nervei to Laggo, it runs on Wednesday and Friday, with return on Sunday. NB! This information will be updated when the 2026 sailing schedule is confirmed.

From the large car park at Nikolasdalen, you can hike down to Laggo. Either follow Nikolasbekken down to the Langfjord River and continue along the river to Dalheim (8–9 km), or take a shorter route across the mountain to meet the river further down (6–7 km).

Please note that Dalheim is located on the opposite side of the river, so you’ll need to consider water levels for crossing. At medium and low water, there are many safe crossing points, for example just below the Jensen Pool on the Dalheim beat.

From Laggo kai to the accomodation: your host will provide transport.
