Salmon Fishing in Ireland and Northern Ireland

Latest catches River levels Email alerts

Fly fishing in Ireland and Northern Ireland offers an incredible range of options, so there really is fishing to suit all tastes and pockets. There are still good runs of salmon in the bigger rivers such as the Blackwater, Bann, Foyle, Finn and  Moy and there is a great chance of hooking a fish or two for your day. Plentiful and sometimes huge wild brown trout are the order of the day in the vast limestone loughs of the west coast, notably Corrib, Mask, Erne, Melvin and Sheelin. There are some much prized sub-species of brown trout that are only found here, such as ferox, dollaghan and gillaroo. Connemara offers a remote wilderness with wide choice of rivers and loughs. And down in the south there are great runs of sea trout up the sometimes short rivers into the sea loughs. Northern Ireland has a large number of stocked stillwaters too. The craic that goes along with the fishing is rightly fabled - just make sure you wake up with a clear head for your morning’s fishing.
