At last the rain came and the August drought was over!  Late August saw river levels rise and we were back in business, James Bumby kicked off proceedings with an 8lber from the Mill Pool, Tommy Callaghan had a good fish in the mid teens, loosing another two, all these were on the fly.

A slight lift over the weekend saw Martin Coulthard catch two on the fly, 8lb and 5lb, later that day a flash flood tore down the Esk, with one angler needing rescued from an island in the middle of the river.  After this flood Tommy Callaghan and Drew Murray both had salmon in the 6-8lb bracket, some late season seatrout were also caught.  Day ticket rods were also picking away with salmon and Grilse in the 5-7lb bracket.

Davey McKenzie had a 9lber from the Dead Neuk, Tommy Callaghan had another at dusk.  River levels stayed steady for the weekend,Jackie Allen had two, one at 18lb and a Grilse at 4lb he later  had a fly caught 8lber. Ben Tinion from John Norris had a lump of a fish, estimated at 15lb on the fly from Tommies, Thomas Forsyth followed him down the pool and landed his first ever fly caught salmon.
Jackie Allen had another at 10lb on the spinner from the Skelly, Martin Coulthard fished at first light in the Dead Neuk, catching a hefty fly caught 14lber.

A big lift in water this week, peaking at 6ft Tommy Callaghan had another at 10lb, Martin Coulthard had two salmon 8lb & 5lb and a seatrout.
Conditions look good for the rest of the week.
