Latest from Gordon Hyslop (Stinchar) 3rd September

Well we got the water at the weekend.....as usual Sunday was perfect. Monday morning, lots of rods about. A few fish were caught before a wee dirty rise came through after overnight rain.

It cleared up within a few hours and we all got going again. At Ballantrae Bridge, Stuart Graham was successful in McKenna's. Mark Beattie was at Balnowlart and had a hat trick of Grilse.

Knockdolian had 6, two for Bobby Hall including one at 12lb, one for myself and one for Colin Hyslop. John had 2 ( sorry didn't get his surname)

Alan Hill had a frustrating day yesterday at Bardrochat. He had a hold of a few before finally getting one to stick. He was back today and had a couple including one at 10lb.

Dalreoch had 4 yesterday with Stevie Cope and Brian Robb being some of the successful rods.

Gavin Hughes was on his syndicate rod on Hallowchapel today and hooked 3 but only managed to get the 3rd one to the net. It was caught on a red tube in Jock's.

Up on the Wee Stinchar I had a good fish well into the teens from the Assel pool yesterday. I went up there after getting the dirty water at Knockdolian around late morning. This fish was taken on a small Stinchar Stoats tail tube. At Minuntion Derek Hesset had a nice fish yesterday and Jamie McClure had a double figure fish.

No doubt there will be many more I've missed.

The encouraging thing is ,we are seeing a good number of fish. The guys on the lower river were seeing quite a few fresh looking fish off the tides. Hopefully they will keep coming.
