Overview

Home Beat is 1.5km in length and showcases some of the best, most accessible fishing at the Arundell. Anglers will find a wide variety of waters along the beat with 5 named pools: Black Doctor, Jeannie, Stoat’s Tail and Blue Charm. The bottom of the Beat up to the dilapidated above Blue Charm can all be accessed from RHB, whilst the top quarter of the Beat should be accessed from LHB by parking at Lifton park.

Brown trout and Grayling are the most prolific species on Home beat, with fishing open all year round for them (season and conditions allowing). Sea trout enter the Lyd catchment in late May and by June should have littered themselves about the pools. Fishing for Sea trout can be successfully done during the day on nymphs and streamers or by night with wet fly techniques. Salmon, although present are unfortunately too low in population to fish for, so the difficult decision has been made to discourage any salmon angling on The Arundell’s waters.
