Overview

The combined Upper and Lower beats have 9 named pools. Littlehaugh fishing shiel on the Upper beat, has been converted to a comfortable fishing hut with a fitted kitchen, wood burning stove and separate WC. There is good vehicle access to Littlehaugh shiel through Milne Graden Estate. Access to the Upper beat is on foot and there is good access by foot, or by four wheel drive, to the Lower beat.

Milne Graden benefits from its proximity to the tidal waters resulting in a very good run of spring fish, in addition to an excellent late summer and autumn run. The beat fishes particularly well in low and mid water conditions where other beats further upstream might struggle. Fish are also regularly caught when the river level is 3 feet on the Norham gauge.

Milne Graden is primarily a salmon beat but has very good runs of grilse and sea trout through the spring and summer months. Over the years Milne Graden has also developed a reputation as an excellent sea trout fishery.

There is excellent bank fishing through all pools of the beat, with extensive development to improve bankside fishing to some of the pools. Fishing is from one of three boats or by wading.

The fishing is for three rods from 1st February until 11th October and then for two rods only until the close of the season.

Any type of rod sharing must be discussed prior to booking.

The Milne Graden Estate has a heritage collection of 8 period holiday properties in idyllic riverside settings, all offering a high standard of accommodation for 2 to 20 guests. The properties are fully-equipped with fishing parties in mind, and include boot rooms and drying facilities. Dogs are more than welcome at all properties. Wireless broadband.

For further information, on all properties prices and availability please contact Crabtree & Crabtree on the Where To Stay pages.
