Rosehill is situated 2 miles upstream of Dumfries and offers approximately 1 mile of excellent lower river double bank fishing over 10 named pools. There is good access to the river along stone roads with parking available. Facilities include a fishing hut, freezer and store.
Wading is gentle for the length of the beat with gravel beds throughout. Favoured flies include the Pot Bellied Pig, Cascade and Stoats Tail. A 13-14 foot rod is recommended.
A part time ghillie is available if required.
The beat features some fantastic fly water for both salmon and sea trout. Fishing is available for two rods by the week or half week with the main run of salmon arriving at the beginning of August.Fly fishing is permitted at any height of water, but spinning is restricted to periods when the water level is very high (level 4).
