Barjarg Fishings have 2500 metres of single bank fishing on the west bank of the Nith.
The beat has a number of named pools - most notably the Trolly, the Caulback and the Sandbed which is arguably one of the best sea trout pools on the Nith system.
All stretches offer good wading, with no difficulties for anglers of all abilities.
The beat has 3 fishing huts. The recently built main hut situated beside the car park has facilities for heating food and coffee/tea etc.
Barjarg has a reputation for large back end Salmon. In 1812, Jock Wallace caught a salmon on Barjarg that weighed in at a recorded 67lb bigger than Miss Ballantines but because of Jocks tendency to depart from the legal methods it was never registered.
In 1978 Robert Waugh caught a whopping 37lb Salmon.
When they are running, Barjarg is one of the best sea trout beats on the Nith.
