Overview

Sydenham (The Hams)- The Hams showcase some of the best fishing at the Arundell, with endless productive water, easy access and wading. The Beat starts at the fishing Hut and extends for 1km upstream, Dry, duo and European nymph tactics will work here and with the diversity of water on offer, anglers may find themselves switching between the methods throughout the session to cover each pool thoroughly. The Hams is mostly a brown trout and Grayling water, but had good opportunity to catch Sea trout in the day on nymphs or by night with traditional wet fly techniques. Much like its sister Beat downstream, The Hams is a big grayling water with plenty of specimen fish over 14”, Grayling to 18” have been caught here with many larger fish being observed too. The Hams Beat also benefits from a large fishing cabin next tot he river, this is the perfect place to take a break and have lunch.
