Arundell Arms - Ottery Beat 15

Ottery (Beats 15): The Ottery Beats are only ones in Cornwall, It holds good stocks of brown trout, and arguably the biggest, with some fish over the 14”. The Ottery also has reasonable stocks of Grayling with some reaching a considerable size for the river. The Ottery is a small river, averaging 6-8m in width, generally slow flowing but with some big pools and meanders. Plenty of tree cover, with certain deep stretches inaccessible due to high banks, but ongoing maintenance and access improvements continue to be in place.  Beat 15 has the best and easiest access of all the Ottery Beats, and has benefitted from ample fishery improvement works in recent years. The new parking area gives anglers access to the RHB, with easy wading across the river to the LHB where the fishing extends downstream. The Beat is most accessible at the very bottom and top of the Beat with some sections on the middle difficult to access and fish. Anglers will need to wade to access the best waters and full chest waders are advisable.
