Overview

The Burnmouth fishings extend for approximately 1/2 mile of double bank fishing with 9 named pools and are situated immediately below the Campsie Linn, the main temperature barrier of the river.

The beat fishes four bank rods. Two rods on each bank without the use of a ghillie , and one boat for two rods with a ghillie.

Bank and boat tickets are priced and sold separately.  Bank rods will be shown the beat by the ghillie.

Burnmouth has only been light fished for the past few years and in the main only by the owners.  It is now available to anglers wishing to fish from bank or from the boat.

Burnmouth sits directly upstream of the Stanley fishings and immediately downstream from Stobhall and Taymount.

The reported catches at Burnmouth are not a true indication of the potential of the beat, when considering booking Burnmouth, the catches above and below should be taken into account, as they will show the numbers of fish in the area.

If fish are being reported above and below, they will be at Burnmouth, after all they won't be getting taxis or buses to get from Stanley Fishings to Stobhall and Taymount!!!

There is a highly experienced ghillie at Burnmouth and a well appointed fishing hut and car park.

The named pools on Burnmouth from the upstream boundary down are:-

Left bank - Gutter Mouth, Saugh Bush, Westy and Otterstone

Right bank - Minisiters, Sands, Burnmouth Shot, Henry's Hole and Woodside

The pools above all fish at different heights as folllows:

Low water pools  (below 3ft on the Ballathie guage)

Gutter Mouth, Ministers, Saugh Bush and Henry's Hole

Medium water pools  (between 3ft and 6ft on the Ballathie guage)

Sands, Burnmouth Shot, Westy, Otterstone and Woodside

High water pools  (above 6ft on the Ballathie guage)

Sands, Burnmouth Shot, Westy, Henry's Hole and Otterstone.

Directions to Right Bank

Whether heading north  or south on the A9 take the turning  to  Luncarty  and follow the B9099  through Luncarty and on to Stanley. Upon entering Stanley, follow the road in to the village centre and take the turning on the right into Esat Brougham Street,  signposted for the Tayside hotel. At the end of East Brougham Street turn right and then take the first left into Linn Road. Travel down with caution as blind bends and walkers. As you reach the bottom of the hill, take the left turn signposted Salmon Anglers, then next right to the hut. What3Words to the entrance gate is ///handwriting.october.derailed   Directions to Left Bank

The access to the left bank is situated off the A93, one mile north of Guildtown. Take the turning signposted “Campsie ¼” Follow the road to the bottom and turn left through the metal gate (please ensure you leave the gate as you find it). Follow this rough track down to the end and the parking area for the beat is on your right. The track down to the parking area is unfortunately full of potholes and access should be taken very slowly and carefully.  It is not suitable for low slung cars or those with limited ground clearance.   The proprietors accept no liability for any damage caused to vehicles taking access on this track and anglers accessing the left back do so at their own risk.
