Overview

The fishery is single bank fishing and they allow anglers to share 1 rod between them but like to know if this is happening. The fishery runs from the old railway line at Longtown to where the River Lyne comes into the Esk (near the Metal bridge). It's been in the Tinning family for many years and is now run by James Tinning’s daughter. Julie.

There’s a caravan for anglers to use with a WC and tea and coffee facilities. The caravan can also be used free of charge for overnight stays. It’s equipped with basic cooking facilities, TV, h/c water, heating and a shower. It’s better you book in advance direct with me as it sleeps up to 4 comfortably.

The only thing you pay for is electric, it’s fitted with a £1 coin meter. The caravan is situated at the flood bank just over from the Mound at one of the access points.

There are up to 10 rods on each day, (7 season rod holders and 3 day rods) as the beat is approx. 3 miles long, this has worked well in the past,  there are a variety of pools. Please note that the beat is tidal, especially at the lower end of the beat.

At the moment anyone can fly, spin or worm fish, but this depends on any new bylaws that may come in to force. It can be easily waded in some parts and there are a few areas for bank fishing available for older and younger anglers.

Could I remind anyone from Scotland, this part of the Esk is in England and you will need a rod license.

The beat doesn’t have a ghillie, but I’m happy to help with any information.

Why you need to fish here

The fishery is single bank fishing and they allow anglers to share 1 rod between them but like to know if this is happening. The fishery runs from the old railway line at Longtown to where the River Lyne comes into the Esk (near the Metal bridge).

EA rod licenses are needed for the beat as they are on the English side of the Border Esk.
