Lochshiel Estate is set in some of the most stunning and dramatic scenery of the west coast of Scotland. Situated in Moidart, about 50 miles west of Fort William, it has sea frontage to Loch Moidart and loch frontage to Loch Shiel.
The River Shiel flows from Loch Shiel down to the sea at Loch Moidart. The river marks the boundary between Inverness-shire and Argyll. A most attractive and varied river with 12 named pools offering salmon and sea trout fishing. The season runs from late May until the last full week of September. Pools are easily accessible via man-made stages/walkways that are placed in the river, allowing fisherman to easily cover the pools without deep wading.
Fishing on the river is available by weekly lets, with the party saying at Camus Dorche. Single day lets may be available by prior arrangement.
There are two rotating beats, with each beat permitting 4 rods, allowing you to fish both banks for the full length of the river each day. An experienced ghillie is on hand for part of the time. Fishing is by fly only and like all west coast rivers there is a catch and release policy for salmon and sea trout.
Camus Dorche is a relatively modern house built in traditional Scottish style which occupies a commanding position overlooking one of the main pools of river. For obvious reasons the house is particularly popular with those who come to stalk or fish but will appeal to everyone who would enjoy relaxing in such comfortable Highland surroundings.
Most of the ground floor is given over to a large open plan living area with various sitting areas and a wood-burning stove. On this level also is a double bedroom with en suite shower room. Upstairs are two more bathrooms and three further bedrooms - a double (en suite) and two twin bedrooms.
With a drying room and separate utility area, the house is ideal for families who relish the outdoor life and an active holiday, as well as those who prefer to relax and take in the stunning local scenery. For ease of access, there is also a ramp at the back door.
