Haughton Castle is a stretch of the River North Tyne, located opposite Chipchase, Barrasford and Chollerton. The fishing is influenced by releases from Kielder Water, with the Riverhill level gauge located on the famous Long Rack Pool.
The water is divided into three beats, providing a varied day’s fishing with numerous named pools on each section.
Beat Structure
- Upper Beat - Runs from the top boundary of Scar Pool to the tail of Westerhall Pool. The opposite bank shall remain unfished and shall not be let during these days. The Upper Beat is available Monday, Wednesday and Friday only.
- Middle Beat - Runs from Lower Westerhall to the Pump House and offers single-bank fishing.
- Lower Beat - Runs from Islet Pots to the bottom boundary at Lower Mains, also single-bank fishing.
Beat Rotation
- Fishing is divided between morning and afternoon sessions, with beats rotating at lunchtime.
- After 5:00pm, anglers may also access the other beats available that day.
Rod Availability
- The resident syndicate fishes half of the available rods each day and will always be on a different beat from visiting anglers, with beats rotating at lunchtime.
- On Tuesday, Thursday and the weekend there are fewer rods available to visitors due to the reduced number of beats open for fishing.
Cost - £95 per rod per day
