Lennel is a lightly fished beat, generally only fished by members of the syndicate and their guests.
However, the fish catch on this part of the Tweed, when combined with the opposite bank is one of the highest on the river
Members are fly fishers first and foremost, and subscribe to the principles of Tweed Flyfishing Preferred (TFP) whereby fly fishing is obligatory except in very adverse situations. Please see the booking conditions for more detail. More than 80% of salmon/grilse are returned.
The main hut is next to Coldstream Bridge and fishing is from 9 am to 5 pm with lunch between 1 - 2 pm when beats are rotated.
There are seven salmon pools fished by four rods. The top pool is shared with Cornhill and the bottom two pools are shared with Tillmouth.
The middle four pools are subject to a rota with Tillmouth changing at 1 p.m.
Lennel is regarded as a low water beat but has some pools which fish well in higher water from a boat.
The beat employs one to four boatmen depending on the season (see letting conditions for details).
