Great value Autumn fishing on the Upper Tweed just above Innerleithen. 2 miles of Left bank fishing with 7 named pools. Attractive surroundings with easy pool access and easy wading.

This beat lies just above Innerleithen and consists of approximately two miles of upper Tweed fishing. The countryside surrounding the beat is most attractive, with a mixture of policy woodlands surrounding old country houses, forestry and heather hills.

The beat catches nearly all its fish in October and November and offers very reasonable prices for those wanting to fish then. If there is plenty of water, fishing will start in early October, but in a drought year this may not be until later in the month.

The fishing itself comprises one mile of double bank at the top of the beat and a further one mile of the north bank only at the bottom of the beat, which is opposite Traquair fishings.

There are seven main pools to fish: Jawstane, Whinstream, Fawnburn, Girley, Bushes, Bridge and Woodend Pool.

The number of rods allowed to fish is six, split into two beats and rotating on an am/pm basis. The owner reserves the right to fish a seventh rod, but only when conditions are favourable.

There is a full time ghillie who will meet rods each morning, divide up the beat and show them the water. Thereafter he will visit from time to time to give whatever help is needed, of if required, can remain with one party for casting and fishing guidance. There is a good hut with gas cooker, good parking and access to the beat from the A72 Innerleithen to Peebles road.

paneliconLATEST REPORT
Fri 10th November

The week so far started well on Monday with a drop in temperature and a nice Autumnal day.
Tuesday we were hit by a mini flood. Totally unexpected and took the beat out for the day and a little into
Wednesday. Thursday was really windy and not very enjoyable, but today has proved one fish caught, one lost and broken rod. The action is on the lower part of the beat this morning. Windy and very cold today.Fish in the beat and sport to be had. Colin.
