The crystal clear waters of the River Aline provide 3 miles of double bank fishing on a traditional Highland spate river. Salmon and sea trout run the river from late spring onwards.
Ardtornish has salmon and sea trout fishing on the River Aline, an especially beautiful west coast spate river. The five year averages for salmon and sea trout up to and including 2013 are 21 and 36 respectively, with an increasing proportion of salmon over 12lbs. We completed the first phase of a five-year salmon stocking programme in 2011, and then set up our own hatchery. We hope to return the Aline to its former glory: in 1992, 120 salmon were caught.
The Aline is divided into six beats, each taking two rods.
Our native wild brown trout fishing on the 16 hill lochs of Ardtornish has been very good in recent years in both quantity and quality of fish caught. The record brown trout, of 16 lbs, was caught in Loch Arienas in 2006 – which yields several hundred trout a year.
