The Fishings
Beat Rotation
The 12 beats available, beats 2 - 13, are fished in rotation. Each pair of rods will rotate between beats on the upper and lower river, enabling rods to fish each section of the river during the course of a week. If not fully rodded, anglers can arrange which of the beats they would prefer to fish with the River Superintendent, providing no more than two rods fish each beat.
Access
There is good vehicular access to the upper river above Westerdale. A minor public road runs adjacent to the river up to Loch More. At places where the public road leaves the river, there is vehicular access to most parts of the river over estate tracks, including a made up road to the river from the gravel pit at Dirlot just beyond Dalemore. Below Westerdale, access is often by farm track off minor public roads.
Huts
The majority of beats are provided with a simple fishing shelter. Beat 4 is served by the Ulbster Arms and Beat 13 by Lochmore Cottage.
