Willow Pool - 795 metres single bank fishing at the junction of the Border Esk and Liddle Water.
Cauldron - 1189 metres of single bank fishing, including Cauldron Pool and Bar stream.
Only 3 rods are permitted per beat.

Rods rotate around each beat on a daily basis and fish 6 rods in total (3 on each beat).
The river is generally fast flowing with beds of rock outcrop or pebble shingle with no natural weed growth.

The Esk runs "gin clear" in the main except during periods of high water and can be extremely productive as the river falls. Low water often carries peat stain brought into the river by the Liddle water where it joins the Esk at the junction of the Willowpool. This however does not have a detrimental effect upon fish taking and can provide favourable conditions for daytime sea trout fishing. Dusk and night fishing can be very productive in low water during good runs in the spring and early summer.

The Sea Trout season commences on the 1st April and continues until 30th September, given good running conditions, fish in the 4-7lb class are usually present on the opening day.

A gradual increase in numbers continues until early August or later in some seasons. The average weight of the main runs is usually 1-2lbs with a few larger specimens up to 10lbs.

The Salmon season opens on April 1st and continues until 31st October. Spring runs of fish, in common with many other rivers, have sadly declined but odd fish do enter the system during February/May period and these numbers are increasing.
Given good river levels from June onwards, fish start to run into the fishery holding up in both the Willowpool and Cauldron pools.
Late July usually heralds the arrival of the summer run and, if conditions remain suitable, will continue until they merge with the main autumn runs around mid-September, which generally increase until the season closes.
The pools produce fish weighing well into the teens of pounds and twenty pounders plus are taken every season.
