SALMON AND TROUT RULES
1. SALMON SEASON - 25th February to 15th November. BROWN TROUT, SEA TROUT SEASON - 1st April to 15th September.
2. All SALMON to be returned to the river. All SEA TROUT to be returned to the river. All BROWN TROUT to be returned to the river.
3. FLY ONLY from the bridge at Woodfoot upstream to Three Water Meetings until 15th September except in flood conditions.
4. Spinning - Not in low water
5. Worm - From 1st May to the end of the season at any height of water, BUT- After 15th September MINIMUM worm hook size is 4 (to protect trout stocks.) Fly fishing - At any time.
6. NIGHT FISHING (during lighting up time) is allowed between 1st April and 15th September. Day permits are valid until 6am next day (Midnight on Saturday) during this period. AT ALL OTHER TIMES ANGLERS MUST BE OFF THE WATER BY HALF AN HOUR AFTER SUNSET. SUNDAY FISHING IS ILLEGAL IN SCOTLAND for Salmon and Sea Trout. Anglers must therefore cease fishing by midnight on Saturday and may not restart before Monday morning.
GRAYLING RULES
1. No closed season but suggest no fishing between 15th March and 1st July to allow fish to spawn and recover.
2. All GRAYLING must be returned to the river.
3. Anglers must carry permit at all times and show it to authorised bailiffs and other season permit holders when requested.
4. A Salmon and Trout season ticket covers Grayling angling during the period it is valid.
5. Fly or float fishing with worm or maggot only. On Sundays throughout the salmon season, fly only. No ledgering. Maximum hook size 12, maximum line strength 4 lb.
6. Give way to Salmon and Trout anglers during the Salmon/Trout season.
RETURNS of fish caught, including NIL returns must be made to the Secretary Andy Dickson, Braehead, Woodfoot, Moffat, Dumfriesshire, DG10 9PL.
Any pictures of fish caught will be gratefully received and good images may be posted on the various Annan websites.
