Overview

Tucked away in the idyllic surrounds of Camus Bay, experience the best of what Connemara has to offer at one of Ireland’s finest Victorian country homes, Screebe House.

Built in 1872 as a fishing lodge and lovingly restored by the Burkart family in 2010, Screebe House offers guests an experience of luxury comfort and effortless charm. With open fireplaces, high ceilings and heritage décor, Screebe’s elegant spaces evoke a sense of grandeur and provide the perfect setting to read a good book or savour a delicious glass of wine while taking in the breathtaking scenery.

Screebe, originating from the Irish word ‘scribe’ meaning destination, is ideally located for those who want to explore the stunning scenery of Connemara or partake in a wealth of activities available.

Screebe House offers guests an exclusive fishing experience on it's impressive system of loughs and lakes, which abound with brown trout, sea trout and salmon.

Screebe houses provide traditional fishing boats and can organise a Ghillie (professional guide) for your fishing tour if required.

Conservation needs to be kept in mind and practised on Screebe's fishery sytsem. Due to this only one boat at a time is allowed on their system. As for the bridge pool and salmon pool there can be two rods at each. This ensures that theres no overcrowding of anglers at each loacation at any one time, allowing for a relaxing and memorable experience.

Conservation is at the heart of what is they do and they will never allow more than one boat on any of their lakes at any one time. While the salmon and bridge pools are fished by only two rods at any one time. This keeps conservation at the heart of what they  do whilst at the same time giving you the best opportunity to have a successful day.
