Salmon and sea trout entering this magnificent system must swim through the river at Ballynahinch Castle Hotel Estate giving Ballynahinch its world-renowned reputation as a famous salmon and sea trout fishery. The closure of the drift net fishery has had a highly positive impact on the stocks at Ballynahinch. The average size of salmon has increased given that the larger fish were being taken by the nets as they returned to the coast.
The fishery operates catch and release with barbless hooks to ensure it can continue fishing the waters for generations to come. Government fishing licences are required for all anglers, which can be issued by the Hotel if needed. Equipment, Tackle & Fies, Tuition and Guiding are available by prior arrangement with the Hotel.
