It might be the smallest country in the UK & Ireland but it packs a real punch when it comes to fly fishing. Wales is all about the secretive and enigmatic sea trout. Like salmon, the sewin (as the locals call it) is under threat however Wales is a real stronghold. Sea trout grow surprisingly big - a double figure fish is very possible - and fight like tigers once hooked. Of course fly fishing for sea trout in Wales is easier said than done as the sewin is shy and spooks easily, so a delicate, careful and patient approach is needed, and often fishing late into the evening is best. When it all comes together the thrill of catching a sewin in the dead of night with just the moon and owls for company is immense.
