The beat consists of nearly two and a half kilometres of the left bank with five named pools: Rampy, Boat Pool, House Pool, Policeman and The Gullets. There is a modest but comfortable hut and it is easy to access the river which involves parking on the main road and walking no more than 200 yards.
This is a fly fishing beat and allow spinning only when the level is above 2' 6" on the Peebles gauge; even then, try with a fly first.
The beat tries to maintain a 100% catch and release record so please bear this in mind and only kill fish that are badly damaged; please handle fish with care during unhooking and understand best practise before you cast a fly to start with.
Otters and kingfishers can be seen amongst all the other wildlife to be expected in this wonderfully scenic part of the Scottish Borders.

Under the control of the Pringles of Torwoodlee since 1489, this is a very attractive and relatively easily accessed stretch of the river. Historically, Nest has caught most of its fish in the autumn from September on, but both salmon and sea trout seem to be arriving in Upper Tweed earlier in the year.
