Upper Kinnaird benefits from having the upstream water from Logierait Bridge on alternate days (Monday, Wednesday and Friday in season 2021) which offers a great additional opportunity for either harling in high water or trolling in low water conditions.
Salmon are present in this beat at the beginning of the season as early arriving Tummel & Loch Tay fish take refuge in the lower water pressure pools that Upper Kinnaird has during higher Spring water levels. Late Spring, Summer & Autumn bring increasing numbers of salmon into the beat which can be covered by bank or boat fishing.
The beat consists of 17 River Tay named pools. Upper Kinnaird also includes the right bank of The Middle Pool & Mikes Run on the River Tummel which is 'classic' fly water.
Upper Kinnaird offers a secluded & peaceful (almost mystical) River Tay salmon fishing venue which caters for all angling styles and abilities. Its natural riverbanks promote a feeling of tranquility yet its salmon producing ability should not be underestimated. The beat has a well appointed luxury fishing hut which sits in an elevated position of the Tay just downstream of the Logierait Bridge.
A boat & ghillie service is available for harling (or trolling) at the cost of £150 per day in addition to the daily permit costs (maximum 2 fishers per boat). This additional service must be booked in advance through the estate office (subject to availability). The boat operating hours are from 10am to 1pm & 2.30pm to 5pm daily.
