Anglers should please be aware that the River Tummel may be subject to a rapid rise in levels owing to operations at the hydro electric power station at Faskally Dam. If anglers are in the water and the river level starts to rise they should immediately leave the water and quickly climb up the banking as the river can, on occasion, rise several feet in a very short space of time. Life vests should always be worn when fishing on the River Tummel beats.
**IMPORTANT:
1. It is the wish of the River Tay Catchment proprietors to enhance breeding stocks of fish by introducing a voluntary catch and release policy. You are requested, whenever possible, to return caught fish to the river. A video explaining the policy is available from the Estate Office.
2. The fishing may not be sub-let. However, in the event of the rod being unable to fish, he or she may assign the rod to a third party.
3. Please inform the Estate Office by phone of all catch returns, including nil returns, within 48 hours of the end of your fishing. Failure to do so may result in future lets being refused. Please fill in any comments/remarks in the register in the fishing hut.
4. Fly-fishing only with standard fly tackle is permitted. Prawn, shrimp and worm bait is not permitted.
5. SPINNING IS PERMITTED ONLY IN HIGH WATER. PLEASE CONTACT THE ESTATE OFFICE FOR GUIDANCE.
6. You should hold an adequate and valid public liability insurance covering yourself and your guests. All persons fishing Atholl Estates' waters do so at their own risk and the Estate takes no responsibility for any damage, accident or personal injury of whatsoever kind or nature. Wading in rivers can be dangerous. The Estate recommends the use of life jackets and wading staffs. Also be aware that rapid changes in water level may occur on this stretch of river. Please act responsibly.
