"The sea is all land, and the land is all lochs" is a common description of the Uists. Hence, the rough estimate that there are some 800 lochs in South Uist and Benbecula, from the largest Loch Bi to a number of glorified puddles - all with potential!
You may have to book a particular loch for boat fishing, but with a reasonably priced permit, you can bank fish a vast range of lochs wherever and whenever you choose.
PURCHASE OF FISHING AND BOAT PERMITS
Although some hotels and accommodation providers have special arrangement to sell permits only to their own customers, members of the public may purchase permits.
SAFETY

SUAC has a number of automatic life-jackets for hire from their Agents at a charge of £1 per day or £5 per week, in addition to a deposit of £15. which will be paid back only when the life-jacket is returned in an un-inflated condition. Anglers may of course prefer to bring and use their own. If anyone fails to return the hired life-jacket, they will be billed for £50 to enable a replacement to be bought.
