This extremely attractive beat is located between the bridges of Montgarrie and Alford, with the top part of the beat close to the local hotel.
It consists of 1 mile of right bank fishing with 5 pools and includes excellent trout water which fishes particularly well at higher water levels. Dry fly fishing is very productive over the months of April, May and June, or nymphing in the faster runs during the summer months.
The beat has been little fished in recent years but Salmon are present from March onwards with numbers increasing from April onwards and given water can be found in the pools until the season ends. The bank vegetation is not always completely strimmed and can therefore be described as being rough in some places but easy access and a walking track alongside the river is too be found.
Wading is required on some pools to cover the lies. The average width of the river is no more than 25 yards. The left bank is rarely fished on a regular basis.
Only fly fishing is permitted and anglers must adhere to the Don Salmon Fishery Board's conservation policy.
