Eden Report W/C 9th of September
The first frost of the year and more salmon on the Eden.
4 fish from Low House this week a 4lb fish caught on the Sunray on Thursday followed by a 5 and 15lb fish caught on Saturday both on ally’s shrimps and another 9lb fish caught on Sunday on a black Francis.
Looking forward it’s going to be a sunny start to the week before becoming overcast and a chance of rain by the weekend.the river is currently 2’9ft and steady it should be starting to drop away in the next hour or so, coloured although that shouldn’t stay around for too long. Water temp 14’C.
With the sunny conditions plan fishing the pools around the sun. The sun rises over the east fellside. If I was fishing Eden Lacy I’d start in the viaduct and then the meadow, before rushing down to the bottom of the beat. Your middle pools should have some shade for most of the day.
I’d be starting on a sink tip this week before working up to inter, sink and full float. Allys shrimp flys and coneheads to start with before going sparse later in the week
The fish are spread throughout the system and starting to show them selves more but keep the faith and believe in the take even if you don’t see any the fish are there.

We at FishPal would like to thank Terence McDonnell for his regular reports, he is a farmer who started fishing for trout as a young boy. The late Victor Gubbins, Eden Lacy beat, introduced him to salmon fishing a few years ago along with Andrew Jackson, and since then he has been passionate about it. Working on the land near the Eden, Terence is never far away from the river as we thank him for his reports.
