There are a number of qualified instructors and guides in Ireland, who you can pay to join you on your beat. On some loughs and rivers a guide is mandatory. If you are fishing a river or lough where this is not mandatory, be sure to check with your ghillie that he is prepared to allow an external guide or instructor, and if he does, use someone who he would recommend. Never turn up with an instructor without having cleared it first, as this might cause bad feeling with the ghillie which won't do much to help your trip.
Qualified instructors and guides, some of whom may offer casting lessons as well as a guiding service are available throughout Ireland. Those who hold a qualification or are a member of a professional organisation will usually have this noted in their listing.
