Located in the middle reaches of the river, the Towie beat is a wonderfully peaceful stretch of the River Don surrounded by farmland and only an hour's drive from Aberdeen.
From the village of Towie the beat extends to approximately 2.5 miles of right bank fishing and accommodates up to 2 rods. It offers 12 named pools, each with their own challenges.
The pools in the top half of the beat are known for being excellent pools for wild brown trout, with pools in the lower half presenting salmon also. The lower pools are known for their challenges with rocks, rapids and high banks.
As on other stretches on the River Don, the Towie beat has been underfished for many years which is the main reason for the low catch records.
