The River Ugie is a "wee gem" that runs from source to the mouth of the river at the north east town of Peterhead.
The River has 6 miles of double bank fishing, but the locals tend to fish off the north bank which contains over three miles of manicured single bank fishing.
There is an excellent tidal beat of the river where it is possible to wade easily either side of the high tide. Sea Trout are active in the estuary beat during the late spring and summer months.
The fishing is a variety of flowing streams and pools with an abundance of rocks and features in the lower part of the river where higher up the river, although narrow has some beautiful streams and deep pools which hold fish on their journey up river.
Fishing methods are with the fly, the worm and spinner. The sea trout tend to enter the river around April-May. The grilse enter the river around July - August with the majority of salmon arriving later during the back end Sep-Oct. The anglers have seen the salmon arriving earlier over the last few seasons, with springers being caught during the early months of the season, and the multi winter fish arriving as early as June.
