Loch Magillie

Northwest of Soulseat Loch and 4km southeast of Stranraer, is Loch Magillie a small 10 acre lochan. Situated at NX 0978 5948 this small lochan can be easily accessed by taking the old military road which leaves the A75 just west of Castle Kennedy and heads towards Lochans. There is restricted parking just off the road at Loch Magillie but there is ample parking at Soulseat loch which is a short walk away.

This picturesque lochan is stocked with hard fighting rainbow trout and there is also Roach which are often 12-14oz. Loch Magillie is a relatively small and shallow lochan which makes it an ideal place for young anglers to practice their skills.

If you are resident at Green Loch House, Soulseat associated tickets are available for those who have a caravan or holiday home in the area. A day ticket permits anglers to bank fish between LochMagillie and the four waters (Soulseat, Dindinnie,Knockquassen and Penwhirn).
