Glenmore river comprises over 30km of river spread between the Glenfinn and Realan Valleys, in the shadow of the imposing Blue Stack Mountains. In this desolate landscape, close to Europe’s most westerly Atlantic coastline, amongst the peat-bogs and mountain loughs of this pristine land, streams tumble through a myriad of waterfalls and rocky pools, joining to become one of Europe’s finest salmon fisheries, the River Finn; and it is to these nursery streams that thousands of salmon return annually to spawn.
Two primary rivers comprise the Glenmore fishery; the Rivers Finn and Reelan. It is on these two spate rivers that most of the fishing is done. Around the head-waters are seven mountain loughs (lakes) where free-rising wild brown-trout to over 2 pounds may be caught. This particular beat comprises the Killygordon stretch of the river, and an Open Water ticket which enable anglers to fish any of the 30km of river that is not covered by the Killygordon, Ivy Bridge and Annick beats. One of the great strengths of the Finn fishery is that runs of both spring salmon and summer grilse are very strong. Fish are normally in the river in substantial numbers from opening day and runs of fresh fish continue on each spate throughout the season.

In total there is in excess of over 30km of double bank water. Killygordon is designated a separate and private beat, which may be booked here, and is limited to 3 rods. The Open Water ticket enables angers to fish on any of the 30km stretch of river provided this is not covered by one of the other bookable beats (Killygordon, Ivy Bridge and Annick). The Ivy Bridge and Annick beats on the Finn are also part of the Glenmore Rivers Estate and may be booked separately on FishPal. Guiding is recommended especially for first time visitors, and can be arranged. All required tackle may be hired including rod/reel and waders, and terminal tackle including flies and leaders can be purchased on site. Glenmore Lodge is a beautiful place to stay just a short distance from the river, and may be booked B&B or full board.
