Blackwater Valley Fishery - Ballyduff Bridge provides visitors with a peaceful location in one of the most scenic areas along the Blackwater River. The fishery covers extensive areas throughout Counties Cork and Waterford. It offers a complete service to all those who enjoy fishing, catering for all their needs and ensuring they can enjoy all of the amenities safely. Should anglers require it, there is a fully qualified guide and casting instructor available to accompany them while on the fishery.
The Ballyduff Bridge stretch is divided into three beats, which collectively can host up to 5 anglers. Here is a short description of each beat.
Ballyduff Bridge Beat 1. Located on the south bank of the River Blackwater entirely above Ballyduff Bridge alongside Ballyduff Village, Co. Waterford, set in an area well renowned for its scenery. A very easy wading beat that can be fished from top to bottom without interruption. This beat consists of slow and fast moving water making it ideally suitable for fly fishing by both experienced and inexperienced anglers alike.
Ballyduff Bridge Beat 2. Also located on the south bank of the river in the same area as Beat 1 this beat stretches from the end of Beat 1 and covers an area above and below Ballyduff Bridge. This beat consists of slower deeper water than Beat 1 and holds a good head of fish throughout the season. While it is mostly suitable for bank fishing, the head and tail of this beat is fly fishable while wading in low water. Here anglers can also enjoy sea trout and brown trout fishing.
Ballyduff Bridge Beat 3. Located on the north bank of the river, adjacent to Ballyduff Village, Co. Waterford. This is a short but very productive beat. Suitable for fishing with both fly and spinning with a deep pool that holds a great head of fish all season long.
The Blackwater Valley Fishery operates primarily on privately owned beats covering both the mid and lower reaches of the River Blackwater. In addition to their own beats, Blackwater Valley partners with a number of nearby fisheries along the River Blackwater allowing access to greater variety and options if conditions are not ideal on a particular beat. The fishery is part of an officially designated Special Area of Conservation, as such angler numbers are carefully controled and emphasis is placed on ensure that fish stocks are preserved at all times.
