The Laxa is a beautiful river in the north of Iceland and is amongst the best brown trout waters in the country, and therefore the world. The Laxardal stretch is long and contains numerous pools, pots, riffles and long runs - any of which will hold trout. The stretch is fished by just 12 rods.This is a productive stretch of the Laxa river with around 900 catches in 2024, with 80% above 50cms and an average size of 58cms. These are big fish!
The schedule is as follows: fish a half day in the afternoon on day of arrival, followed by full days fishing, and then fish a half day on the morning on day of departure. This means you will get, for example, four full days fishing spread over five calendar days. The exact beat rotation will be established at the Lodge on your day of arrival.
