Customer Feedback

Crathes Castle - John the ghillie very helpful, gave my son some casting tuition. We thoroughly enjoyed the day.

Knappach - Jamie is a nice guy. He gave us lots of good advice which made the day. Highly recommend this beat.

Tilbouries - Nicol was waiting for us on arrival. He gave a detailed decription of the beat, pools and where fish have been rising. The beat is well maintained with easy access to the named pools and good wading at about 4' depth. Saw plenty of fish, but sadly none in the net today.

FishTweed Donation

Mark Cockburn recently visited the Tweed Forum with a cheque for £4,572 from donations made by anglers when booking fishing on Tweed through FishPal and FishTweed.

The donation will be spent on Tweed Forum's riparian planting work, where trees are planted in key riverside locations to help provide vital shade for the salmon population in the freshwater phase of their lifecycle - read more.

Salmon River Gradings

An assessment of the conservation status of salmon in inland waters in Scotland is carried out each year and each river or assessment group is assigned a grading depending on the outcome of that assessment.

You can submit your views on the proposed gradings and regulations until 10 September 2021 - here.

On the upper river, there were some nice fish landed. Successful beats included Upper Farleyer, Upper Bolfracks and Edradynate beat. There are a few places left on the Spey Casting Course to be held on Edradynate beat, Saturday 11th September, please contact Tomas Kolesinskas for more information and to book a place

Customer Feedback

Farleyer Upper - A very nice beat with a great selection of fly water. The beat map and fishing hut are excellent.

Lower Bolfracks - When you arrive at the beat it's obvious Jim has spent a lot of hours maintaining the beat. Putting paths right along with walkways and steps down to the water and bird boxes, squirrel feeders and bat boxes in the trees. The fishing itself was the best I have had in over 4 decades of fly fishing with numerous trout including a few over 2 pounds and two over 3 pounds and a handful of above average Grayling. My advice would be book a day and contract Jim before you go as he has a wealth of knowledge of the beat which is invaluable.

Anne was out and about on the river last week and caught up with Scott Povey on Lower Pavilion on the last day of his annual August courses - watch video.

She also popped into see Brian Lile, the new head ghillie on Tweedswood beat - watch video.

Customer Feedback

Tweedswood - River had dropped off so we knew it would be a struggle, but we managed to get a couple of fish. Brian the new gillie on the beat looked after us really well. He is friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.

Lower Pavilion - Scott is an excellent instructor who quickly identified my casting faults and pointing out the areas on which to concentrate. Through his guidance and instruction, I'm now in a much better position to identify casting errors and how to rectify them. I highly recommend the 3 day course run by Scott Povey.
