Tay Salmon & Grilse

FishTay | Fishing Permits | Tackle Shops | Accommodation | Tay Guides | Help Centre

Colin McLean fishing Newtyle Beat.

There have already been grilse and larger summer salmon caught from the Tay system in recent weeks as well as the odd late running springer. As we move through June and into July more summer fish should enter the river with every tide giving anglers the opportunity to catch hard fighting grilse and summer salmon - read more.

It was another warm week across much of Perthshire with temperatures widely reaching the high teens and early twenties. This made fishing at the right times important, with many anglers opting to fish early in the morning and then again at dusk. Water levels on the Tay system remained settled and there were some sparkling salmon and grilse caught in the Perthshire sunshine - read more.

Summer is a fantastic time of year to be out in the great Scottish outdoors - find Tay fishing.

16lber caught on Edradynate beat.

Dryburgh Lower - A great stretch of water. Lovely to fish and very well maintained and managed by David. He was very helpful and gave me some casting tuition as I'm a complete novice with a salmon rod.

Lower Pavilion - We really enjoyed our day and intend to visit the fishery again very soon, the gillie tried very hard to put us onto more fish. Catch 1 salmon.

The Spey Grilse Have Arrived

Fish Spey | Fishing Permits | Tackle Shops | Accommodation | Help Centre

Dani Morey fishing Knockando landed a fresh Grilse.

Reports from the beats suggest a bit of a mixed bag this past week. For some, the fishing has slowed up a little over the last few days and for others it was a good week! This could be conditions related or it could just be less fresh salmon entering the system? It may also be a "lull period" between the spring run finishing and the summer salmon and grilse run starting? Hard to know for sure yet - read more.

However, it was evident that the grilse run (salmon that have spent only one year at sea) has started with a few beats recording one or two in their catch returns. - read more.

The weather forecast looks fairly stable and actually good for fishing – not too hot, some sun, some clouds and maybe some light rain. Let's see what the salmon gods deliver!. Find Spey Fishing.
