More people have gone fishing this year!
Fly fishing is now the new bird watching and casting a fly line is the chic way to unwind.
Mortimer and Whitehouse Gone Fishing has been a massive hit with audiences for its funny, sometimes poignant banter and frequent shots of Bob Mortimer falling over by the side of the river. Earlier this week the BBC announced a one hour Christmas special with Bob and Paul heading to Teesside to fish the Rivers Esk and Tees, plus a spot of sea fishing.

The River Nairn is often referred to as a "Little Gem". The Nairn Angling Association has six miles of fishing which is arguably some of the best salmon and sea trout association water in Scotland.
Anglers fished from June to October this year and caught 229 salmon/grilse, which exceed the 5 year average. Visitors are made very welcome by the local anglers who offer help and assistance.
"Great day out with numerous pools to choose from. Members are very helpful with advice and directions. Lost 2 fish during the day, good sport and value for money."
"I have fished here several times before and always enjoyed it. Great little river. Look forward to returning."
The season on the Nairn runs from 11th February until 7th October and the association have reduced the number of permits to four per day - find 2021 fishing.
