During the last week more 2021 fishing has been added to the FishPal site. If you want to be one of the first people to see the latest fishing availability, you can request a rod alert which emails you when fishing is added for a river or area. You can also update and remove unwanted alerts, just go to the angler login page and you will find information on your alerts, bookings, feedback etc.

Finavon Castle had an outstanding summer run of salmon and grilse throughout June and July on the South Esk.
The sport at times was quite energetic, with one being able to fish most of the pools in serious expectation rather than hope. The fish were a mixture of summer salmon, which were caught up to about 13lbs, and solid, stocky grilse with big shoulders between about 5lbs and 7lbs. More often than not these fish were chrome bright, festooned with sea lice and eager to take whatever was put in front of them - read more.
2020 saw 4 fish caught between August and the end of October which tipped the weigh net at a fraction over 20lbs, as well as several others in the mid to high teens, and a few other big ones lost - read more.

During the last seven days more 2021 availability has been added for the River Tay. The river is internationally renowned for its atlantic salmon fishing and regarded as one of the best salmon rivers in the United Kingdom - find fishing.
The extensive river system is famous for offering fishing for all ages and abilities. It's many smaller tributaries are also excellent salmon fisheries and include the Earn, Isla, Ericht, Tummel, Garry, Dochart, Lyon and Eden. Throughout July, salmon continued to be reported on all the lower beats as well as good sized grilse (6/7lb) and this continued into August helped by regular rain and good fishing conditions. It was good to see the lower beats so busy with anglers. Some beats fully booked and reporting fish most days when fishable.
By the end of the summer most of the lower beats were already on course for a far better season than in recent years with two of the best months of the season still to come! Read more.

Cargill is one of the most productive and best known beats for salmon fishing on the river Tay. The beat is divided into two double bank beats, upper and lower Cargill which are fished on alternate days. Permits for 2021 start from £40 per day - find fishing.
There are two boats and a well appointed luncheon hut on each beat with WC, cooking facilities, hot and cold running water and wood burners to ensure a comfortable days fishing.

It has been a while since a new book on sea trout fishing graced our bookshelves. Whilst the fish haven't changed over this time, what we have available to us in order to pursue them certainly has. As things modernise, we become better equipped and more successful in our approach.

The Missing Salmon Alliance (MSA) has launched its new website, detailing the "Likely Suspects Framework" as the organisation's flagship project.
The MSA is a collective of passionate conservationists - Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust, Angling Trust and Atlantic Salmon Trust who are working together to save Wild Atlantic Salmon.
The new website brings together the collective work of the MSA, detailing key research such as the Likely Suspects Framework, salmon stories and initiatives to get involved with.
