Yesterday's Catches - Today's River Levels - Tomorrow's Availability

Newsletter No 31

September 2020

Last Friday I was contacted by Mr Goldson via our help desk. He had been informed that the lower river would not fish on Monday and wanted advice on where they could go. We recommended that he fish Middle Pavilion on Monday where his son caught a salmon and a sea trout. Yesterday they could fish the lower river and caught 2 salmon. I look forward to finding out how many fish they caught on their annual trip to Tweed.

We are hearing reports of fish entering our river systems. Tweed anglers have caught 237 salmon in two days. The Tay are catching fish across the system and anglers on Waulkmill beat and Cargill beat have reported salmon of 20lb. The Tyne have had 30 fish in the first 2 days of this week with the heaviest a fish of 20lbs alongwith 15 sea trout.

Anglers fishing Burnfoot beat on the Border Esk, Monday and Tuesday, have caught 22 fish including a 16lb and 22lb fish.

Tommy Morrison releasing his salmon caught Hoddom beat.

It's good to see people catching fish up and down the river Annan. The largest fish so far this week was caught yesterday (Tuesday) at 14lbs on Newbie Beat. River Annan catches

Happy angler fishing Gordon Castle Estate.

From the River Spey Gordon Castle have had another productive week on their beats, some fantastic fish getting caught at the moment!

The long range weather forecasts have laid out a changeable picture for the next two weeks with outbreaks of rain, strong winds and chilly temperatures. The Met Office has predicted the current weather will likely continue until September 30th. If you have not yet booked a fishing trip this month visit find fishing on the home page.

Colin Brook fishing Park.

After a slowish start, the river burst into life midweek. Following a spate and perhaps more tellingly an attendant drop in water temperatures, sport was particularly brisk on Wednesday and Thursday, which together produced ninety-one fish. We finished with one hundred and seventy-three in the book - read more.

Check out the availability for the week ahead. There is some excellent fishing and superb accommodation available throughout September.

Over the next few weeks, the Tay system will be at its most populated with salmon. In the past, September and October have yielded some big fish from the Tay and hopefully, there will be some crackers landed in the upcoming weeks - latest catches.
