This Friday (July 3rd) travel restrictions will hopefully be lifted in Scotland except in some portions of Dumfries & Galloway. Accommodation providers likewise, starting with self catering accommodation will hopefully be open from the 3rd July and hotels, restaurants and pubs in Scotland are allowed to open from July 15th, whilst in Wales this is July 13th with self contained accommodation opening on July 11th. In England self contained accommodation is opening from 4th July and in Northern Ireland it is already open with hotels opening on July 3rd. Make sure you know what accommodation is available before you book your fishings!
With shops now opening in Scotland many tackle shops will also now be open. So if you need some local advice, including the best flies to use, please pop along to your local tackle shop and show your support.

Lewis Newton this morning at 6.00am.
On my run this morning along the river Wear I bumped into Lewis Newton at Croxdale. He had been on the river since 5.30am fishing for trout and was enjoying the good conditions, catching 15 wild brown trout up to 2lb in one pool using nymphs.
We are also hearing regular reports of salmon and sea trout being caught and lost on the river Wear, fish between 5 to 7lb mark reported last week.
