Lesley took this photo of the water.

"Sitting by the river Orchy on Sunday I saw a large run of big salmon, which is encouraging to see. I used to fish upstream with my dad about 40 years ago" Lesley Weaver.

Fishing Reports

The Tweed reported 72 salmon and 42 sea trout. Bemersyde Head Ghillie Mr Ian Farr reports "July is here and so is Summer. 23 fish up to 17lbs for the season so far is certainly better than last year. All but 2 have been fresh. We now need rain to bring in the Summer fish." - Find Tweed fishing.

FishPal
14lber being released on Monday on Meikleour and Upper Islamouth beat.

The Tay Report. A good mixture of hard fighting fresh grilse and larger summer salmon caught from the Tay system last week and many of these fish were sea liced. Dalmarnock Beat continued its recent run of good form producing a fish on most days including two on Monday. Anglers fishing on the Murthly 2 Beat came up trumps on Monday and Tuesday landing a total of four lovely salmon. The beat produced another fish on Thursday and Saturday. Meikleour and Upper Islamouth Beat produced a cracking Sea trout weighing eight pounds on Tuesday. Cargill had plenty of rods bent through the course of the week. Find Tay fishing.

River Dee reported Sixty-three last week. The week began reasonably well with forty fish to Wednesday but was stymied by a rapidly rising river from Thursday. The Dee held their annual "Big Fish, Little Fish" event at Crathes Castle on Saturday. A free days fishing where an adult brings a youngster to the beat to share a cast on the river. While we didn't connect with a fish everyone who attended had a blast. Find Dee fishing.

The Spey Report. At least two days were lost to high coloured water and thunder and lightning. Delfur had twenty for the week between 12 to 18lb and didn't fish Thursday and Friday. Gordon Castle tells me they finished in the high teens. Laggan had five and a great house party eased the pain of not fishing. A tour of the cooperage was also a superb non fishing experience. Find Spey Fishing.
